There are 68 miles of coastline and it is a wonderful place for people that love the ocean. It is known for beautiful beaches and warm waters. Martha’s Vineyard is just a short ferry ride away.
Falmouth was settled by the English in 1660. Early activities were farming, salt works, shipping, sheep husbandry and whaling. Some of the first summer homes were built in the late 19th century. Population growth in the 20th century was brought about after highway improvements and the increased use of Otis Air Base during WWII. Real estate booms took place during the 70's, 80's and 90's.
